Complementary Strengths: TMB’s R&D Expertise with Orient Pharma’s Commercial Reach
On May 20, 2024, TMB and Orient Pharma entered into an exclusive sales and marketing agreement for Trogarzo in Taiwan. Under the agreement, TMB is responsible for drug development and supply, while Orient Pharma, leveraging its strong commercial network and market expertise in Taiwan, is responsible for regulatory submission, marketing, and commercialization of Trogarzo.
Name Approval Secured; Marketing Authorization Imminent
Following the TFDA’s approval of the product names, Orient Pharma will proceed with the final submission of the package insert and related documentation. Upon issuance of the formal drug license and notification from the TFDA, Orient Pharma will be able to initiate commercial sales of Trogarzo in Taiwan, providing a new treatment option for patients with multidrug-resistant HIV.
Successful Commercialization of Trogarzo Validates TaiMed’s Innovation and Execution Capabilities
Trogarzo is the world's first monoclonal antibody approved for the treatment of multidrug-resistant HIV-1 (MDR HIV-1) and is primarily intended for heavily treatment-experienced patients with limited therapeutic options. Although the patient population is relatively small, Trogarzo has demonstrated the value of its differentiated clinical profile and global commercial reach, generating stable revenue and profit contributions.
In the first quarter of this year, Trogarzo helped TaiMed achieve profitability and surpass the break-even point, validating the Company's ability to successfully execute across the entire value chain—from research and development through commercialization.
TaiMed noted that Trogarzo’s unique mechanism of action enables effective viral suppression in patients who have developed resistance to multiple antiretroviral therapies. Through its close collaboration with Orient EuroPharma, the Company aims to accelerate access to this innovative treatment in Taiwan and address significant unmet medical needs among local HIV patients.
Advancing HIV Treatment Innovation Beyond Trogarzo
TaiMed emphasized that, as Trogarzo approaches regulatory approval in Taiwan, the Company will continue working closely with its partners to ensure supply chain stability while accelerating the global development and licensing efforts for long-acting HIV therapies, including TMB-365/380.
The Company remains committed to becoming a global leader in innovative HIV treatments and to advancing its vision of making HIV no longer a burden on patients’ lives.
